Jeffrey Maehara, M.D.
Dr. Jeffrey Maehara was raised in Honolulu and attended St. Louis High School, Tulane University, and Tulane Medical School. He is a fellowship-trained Anterior Segment-Glaucoma Specialist. This double-subject training has given Dr. Maehara extensive experience with complicated and advanced glaucoma management, LASIK, cataract and corneal transplants, and other refractive procedures. The faculty instructors at Tulane, the origin of his training, include three of the world's top LASIK and refractive surgeons. He brings this experience to the Islands.
Dr. Maehara focuses on leading the way with new technology. Years ago, he implanted the very first AcrySof ReStor premium lens in Hawaii. That lens has grown to the nation’s #1 implanted premium cataract surgery lens. He also was the first to routinely offer AquaLase technology – the gentle “wash away” your cataract technique. Likewise, he implanted the first astigmatism-correcting Acrysof Toric cataract lens, performed the first non-penetrating deep sclerectomy with Aquaflow implant, and the first Canaloplasty in Hawaii.
Dr. Maehara also practices integrative medicine as a fellowship-trained, anti-aging regenerative medicine physician. He is an active member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dennis Maehara, M.D.
Dr. Dennis Maehara started the Maehara Eye Clinic over 30 years ago. Also born and raised in Hawaii, Dr. Dennis has built a legacy of quality eye care for our local community that now culminates in Maehara Eye Surgery & Laser, LLC.
Dr. Dennis is a living example of the anti-aging lifestyle professed by his son, Dr. Jeffrey. He surfs “bowls”daily before work (alongside teens and 20-year olds), and has been a long-time member of the Park City Masters Ski team. He has won numerous Downhill and Slalom races throughout the U.S. During our summers, you’ll find him gone to ski the mountains of Chile, South America.
